Tornado Watch issued for much of Iowa

Good Saturday afternoon, meteorologist Zin sat here at KCC I in Des Moines, giving you *** quick update here this afternoon about *** tornado watch that’s been issued by the weather service here just *** short time ago for much of central and kind of east central Iowa here headed into the evening hours officially until seven o’clock everywhere. You see *** county that’s colored yellow. You got *** risk of maybe *** tornado thunderstorm here later on through the rest of the afternoon and into the evening. Now there are no tornado warnings in effect right now, but plenty of storms here firing up across the state. *** couple of little thunder boomers down as you head towards Warren County, Indianola and then down further south into parts of western Lucas County there in southern Iowa, only one severe thunderstorm warning which is currently down for parts of mainly east, extreme eastern southeastern Webster County and into parts of mainly Hamilton County here. Now, as you go along highway 175 stan hope back to the west towards Stratford here. This is moving off to the east and northeast mainly just been producing hail or it has potential to be producing hail as that’s been going off to the east and northeast here over about the past half hour or so. So, eventually that storm is going to go through STAN hope over towards Jeel Ellsworth and then *** little bit further off to the north and the east. So plenty of thunderstorms are going to, well, I should say more of these thunderstorms are going to fire up here as we go into the rest of the afternoon and into the evening, nothing tornadic right now. But there is the potential for some of these storms to get tornado as we go through the evening, maybe also produce some more hail and then later on tonight, possibly some damaging winds. So you see hour by hour model here kind of bubbles up *** few more storms as we go into the night. Then the tornado threat goes away. But then *** few, *** couple more storms will possibly go through parts of northern Iowa here or the cold front late tonight around the midnight 2 a.m. time frame and then some cooler breezier air will rush in here as we head into early tomorrow morning. But to recap, *** tornado watch been issued by the weather service here for much of central Iowa until seven o’clock tonight. Stay with us here on KCC I. We’ll keep you up to date.

Severe storms will be possible across the state into Saturday evening.

A Tornado Watch is in effect until 7 PM for much of central and eastern Iowa.More thunderstorms are expected to fire up across the state through the afternoon and evening hours. Some of these storms could produce tornadoes and large hail. Damaging wind gusts are possible as well. A watch does not mean tornadoes are imminent, just that the ingredients are in place for tornadic storms. If a storm is capable of producing a tornado, a tornado warning will be issued.

More thunderstorms are expected to fire up across the state through the afternoon and evening hours. Some of these storms could produce tornadoes and large hail. Damaging wind gusts are possible as well.
