DEFINITELY A DAY YOU NEED TO STAY WEATHER AWARE STARTING THIS MORNING THOUGH, PRETTY QUIET. CLOUDS HAVE ALREADY MOVED IN AND THAT IS CAUSING SOME VISIBILITY CONCERNS FOR A FEW ACROSS THE AREA. LIVE LOOK RIGHT NOW FROM OUR CAMERA AT THE CHARLES SCHWAB BUILDING. THIS IS OUT AT THE WEST DODGE EXPRESSWAY. LOW CLOUDS MOVING IN, BUT VISIBILITY FOR THE EXPRESS WAY. STILL PRETTY GOOD REPORTING. OVERCAST SKIES OMAHA 5553 NORFOLK AND 52 HARLAN ALL OF US CLOUDY. I’M EXPECTING GUSTS TO PICK UP TODAY. THAT COULD HELP MOVE SOME OF THESE LOW CLOUDS AND. FOG OUT. GUSTS POSSIBLE IN EXCESS OF 35 MILES AN HOUR. BUT EVEN WINDIER FURTHER NORTH. WIND ADVISORIES FROM 10:00 THIS MORNING UNTIL 7 P.M. HERE TONIGHT FOR MADISON STANTON CUMING BURT COUNTIES. WE’LL SEE THOSE GUSTS UP TO 50 MILES AN HOUR. AND THOUGH WE’RE DRY RIGHT NOW, SEEING SOME OF THAT MOISTURE OUT TO THE WEST, THERE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF OUR SCREEN AS WE HEAD INTO THE AFTERNOON, A VERY SLIGHT CHANCE FOR A POP UP SHOWERS, REALLY, FOR THE FIRST HALF OF THE DAY, IT’S AFTER 4 P.M. WHERE WE SEE OUR SEVERE THREAT BEGIN AND WE’LL SEE A COUPLE OF STORMS POSSIBLE AHEAD OF THIS MAIN LINE. AND ANY OF THESE STORMS COULD COULD CONTAIN EMBEDDED TORNADOES. SO KEEPING A VERY CLOSE EYE ON THAT AS THIS CONTINUES TO WORK ITS WAY FROM WEST TO EAST, MOVING INTO THE OMAHA METRO AFTER ABOUT 7 P.M., 8 P.M., YOU CAN SEE A HEAVIER RAIN FURTHER SOUTH OF I-80, AND WE’LL SEE HIGHER RISK FOR SEVERE WEATHER DOWN SOUTH. AS THIS MOVES OUT OF OUR AREA. AFTER ABOUT TEN TO MIDNIGHT. SO YOUR SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR THIS AFTERNOON AGAIN ABOUT 4 P.M. TO 10 P.M., WE’RE SEEING OUR HIGHEST RISK HERE IN THIS ENHANCED AREA IN THE ORANGE LINE FROM YORK TO LINCOLN DOWN THROUGH FALLS CITY, CLOSE TO MARYVILLE, INTO SAINT JOE. THE REST OF US SLIGHT RISK DAMAGING WIND GUSTS 75MPH PLUS TWO INCH SIZE HAIL. FEW TORNADOES, AND EVEN ISOLATED FLASH FLOODING. WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAIN, ABOUT HALF AN INCH TO AN INCH POSSIBLE, BUT ISOLATED INCH AND A HALF THAT’S LOOKING ESPECIALLY POSSIBLE AND TRUE OUT FOR WESTERN IOWA. SO ALL MODES OF SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE WITH OUR SEVERE IMPACT ICON HERE FOR YOUR MONDAY AND 4 P.M. NEED TO STAY WEATHER AWARE. Thunderstorms are set to return Monday afternoon and evening for eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.The Weather Now Storm Team has labeled Monday a “Severe Weather Day” with the increasing likelihood for a potential severe weather outbreak Monday across portions of the Plains.Storms are likely to move into the Omaha area after 6 p.m. on Monday as a line of thunderstorms progresses eastward across the region.
