Reports of downed grain silo blocking road in Butler County following strong storms

WEATHER EVENT RIGHT NOW, KEVIN. SO WE’RE GOING TO BE TRANSPARENT WITH THE VIEWERS HERE AND LET THEM KNOW THAT WE WANT YOU TO STAY OVER THERE CLOSE TO THE WEATHER CENTER. AND AS SOON AS YOU HAVE SOMETHING THAT’S IMPORTANT, JUST YELL OUT AND YELL OUT AND WE’LL BREAK RIGHT BACK OVER TO YOU. OKAY? SO THAT’S WHAT WE’LL DO WITH YOU. IN THE MEANTIME, WE WANT TO KIND OF CHECK IN WITH SOME OF OUR REPORTERS. WE’RE HEARING REPORTS OF DAMAGE ALL ACROSS GREATER CINCINNATI. I WAS JUST LOOKING ON SOCIAL MEDIA. BUTLER COUNTY EMA IS ALL OVER IT OUT THERE. THEY HAD I MENTIONED THAT THAT SEMI TRUCK THAT HAD OVERTURNED APPARENTLY WAS ON A FARM, OVERTURNED MULTIPLE TIMES. TIMES THEY’VE GOT A GRAIN BIN APPARENTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. POLES THAT ARE DOWN. SO A LOT OF OUR AREAS GETTING HIT HARD TONIGHT. CHRIS JACOBS IS IN BUTLER COUNTY. CHRIS, CHRIS, WHERE ARE YOU EXACTLY? AND TELL US WHAT YOU’RE SEEING. YEAH. SO RIGHT NOW WE’RE OUTSIDE OF A TOWN CALLED MATT DONEGAL, OHIO. IT’S, UH, RIGHT OUTSIDE OF OXFORD, MAYBE ABOUT 10 TO 15 MINUTES SOUTHEAST OF OXFORD. JUST NORTHWEST OF MILLVALE. UH, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT SOME OF THE DAMAGE THAT WE’VE SEEN OR THAT WE’VE AT LEAST REPORTED SEEING. UH, WE’VE NOTICED SOME POWER LINES DOWN. YOU SEE, ONE OF THOSE IS DOWN RIGHT BEHIND ME. DUKE ENERGY IS HERE. THEY’RE WORKING TO TRY TO GET SOME OF THIS SITUATION SORTED OUT. AND ALSO DOWN STILLWELL BECKETT ROAD, WHICH IS RIGHT BEHIND ME. WE’RE WE’RE HEARING REPORTS OF THIS DOWN SILO THAT’S ACTUALLY BLOCKING STILLWELL. BECKETT ROAD. UM, WE CAN’T REALLY SEE IT FROM HERE. DOWNED POWER LINES ARE ALSO HAPPENING IN THAT DIRECTION AS WELL. SO FIRST RESPONDERS HERE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT WHO’S HERE RIGHT NOW, THEY’RE NOT GOING TO ALLOW US TO GET ANY CLOSER TO IT. BUT WE ARE HEARING REPORTS OF A DOWNED SILO AS WELL AS SOME OF THE DOWNED POWER LINES THAT WE’RE SEEING RIGHT NOW. WE WERE TALKING TO A NEIGHBOR WHO LIVES JUST UP THE ROAD FROM ALL THIS DAMAGE HERE ON STILLWELL BECKETT. SHE TELLS US SHE HEARD THE DESTRUCTION THAT THIS STORM WAS BRINGING TO US, AND SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED WHEN THIS WAS ALL HAPPENING. I’VE BEEN HOME FOR MAYBE 20 MINUTES. I FED MY DOGS. I LET HIM OUT, AND I WAS GETTING READY TO GET READY TO GET MY SHOWER AND GO TO BED. AND NEXT THING I KNOW, THE THE LIGHTS STARTED FLICKERING REAL HARD AND BOTH THE FRONT DOOR AND THE BACK DOOR OF MY HOME BOTH FLEW OPEN ALL OF A SUDDEN AND LIKE IT WAS JUST A BURST OF WIND AND IT SHOOK THE HOUSE LIKE THE HOUSE WAS GOING TO COME UP OFF THE FOUNDATION AND IT WAS LIKE ALMOST LIKE A TRAIN. IT HIT THE HOUSE, IS WHAT IT FELT LIKE. AND THE WHOLE HOUSE SHOOK. AND THEN NEXT THING I KNOW, THERE’S COPS EVERYWHERE. AND THEY TOLD ME THAT WE HAD JUST GOTTEN HIT BY A TORNADO. YEAH, YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW TERRIFIED SHE WAS DESCRIBING IT. LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN HITTING HER HOUSE. BUT AGAIN, DOWNED POWER LINES ON STILLWELL BECKETT ROAD. THIS IS RIGHT NEAR MCGONIGLE, OHIO. AND THEN, UH, SOME A DOWNED SILO ACTUALLY UP THE ROAD HERE ON STILLWELL BECKETT ROAD. SO THE ROADS ARE OBVIOUSLY CLOSED RIGHT NOW. WE’RE NOT ALLOWED TO GET ANY CLOSER DUE TO THE SAFETY CONCERNS, BUT WE WILL KEEP YOU POSTED. UH, ONCE THESE ROADS REOPEN, LAW ENFORCEMENT NOT REALLY TELLING US WHEN THAT COULD HAPPEN. Strong storms left a trail of damage in counties across Greater Cincinnati.There are reports of a downed silo blocking Stillwell Beckett Road near Oxford.”It’s almost like a train hit the house, is what it felt like. The whole house shook,” Holly Mullen, who lives nearby, said.There are also reports of downed power lines in the area due to the downed silo.There’s no details on when the road could reopen.Storms prompted several tornado warnings, including in Butler County Tuesday.Damage has been reported in southeast Indiana, where multiple tornado warnings were issued.Heavy rain is also a threat for a large portion of the Cincinnati region, with multiple flash flood warnings in effect.The severe weather threat lasts through about 11 p.m. or midnight.Wednesday starts dry, but brings another round of storms in the evening. There’s the potential for strong storms again. All severe weather hazards are possible.The rest of the week quiets down and we should be dry by Friday. The weekend isn’t completely dry. Showers are possible Saturday afternoon. Mother’s Day looks mostly dry and cooler with highs in the upper 60s.
