TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Texas mother was arrested Tuesday after she “intentionally” concocted a sports drink that sent her son’s alleged bully to the hospital.
Jennifer Lynn Rossi, 45, mixed lemon, salt, and vinegar inside a sports drink bottle she gave to her son to prevent it “from being stolen at school by other students,” the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said.
According to the sheriff’s office, Rossi’s son had given the drink to his classmate during P.E. class. Shortly after consuming the drink, the student became nauseous and got a headache.
Deputies were called to Legacy Traditional School in Alamo Ranch to tend to the sick child.
Although the contents of the drink were non-toxic, the child was hospitalized and required “additional medical monitoring.” Officials said the student would eventually be discharged.
During the investigation, deputies found that Rossi had “intentionally mixed the contents of the drink.”
She was charged with injury to a child causing bodily injury and was booked into the Bexar County Jail on a $1,000 bond.
