An iPad is just one of many things that a good USB power bank will charge or power, and if you want one with a high capacity, fast charging capabilities and even a digital display, the Anker Power Bank is hard to beat.
Currently on sale for £99.99 at Amazon UK (down from £139.99) (opens in new tab), not only does this offer 140W fast charging (we’re told that you should be able to get up to 50% charge on a 16-inch MacBook Pro in as little as 40 minutes), but the Power Bank can also be recharged fully in 52 minutes. Given the 24,000mAh battery capacity, that’s pretty impressive.
The device can also charge up to three devices simultaneously, so if you carry a lot of USB-flavoured kit around with you, it could turn out to be a lifesaver.
Sadly, the $270 Best Buy deal on the 9th-generation iPad has now ended, but if you’re after this model in the UK, the good news is that you can still pick it up for £309 from Amazon (opens in new tab).
This will save you £60 on the standard retail price – a sizeable discount when you consider that this is already Apple’s cheapest iPad. For that you get an A13 Bionic Chip and 64GB of storage.
You can save even more if you go for the 256GB model – £90, to be precise. This is currently down from £549 to £459 (opens in new tab).
We know how it is: you’ve been waiting to buy an iPad on Black Friday, but then keep waiting after the event in the hope that a better deal might come along.
Well, we’re well into Cyber Weekend now – in fact, we’ll soon be in to Cyber Monday – so if you haven’t made that purchase yet, now could be the time to hit the order button. You certainly don’t want to run the risk of the very best offers passing you by.
The good news is that all of the deals listed above are still available. We’ll keep looking around and report back if any other savings pop up.
There’s currently a bit of congestion at the more affordable end of the iPad spectrum, with both the 9th and 10th-generation models being part of Apple’s product line.
So, which should you choose? The new 10th-generation model ditches the rather dated bezels of its predecessor in favour of all-screen design and a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, and gets a speed boost courtesy of the A14 Bionic chip.
The new chip promises a 20 percent increase in CPU power and a 10 percent graphics boost in comparison to the previous 9th-gen model, which has a 10.2-inch display and contains the A13 Bionic chip.
In terms of connectivity, iPad 10 gets a USB-C rather than a Lightning port, and supports Wi-FI 6 for faster connectivity. The cellular models are 5G, and the new iPad is compatible with a fresh Magic Keyboard Folio.
All of which sounds great, but there is a catch. If you were expecting the price of the new iPad to be in line with its predecessor, which costs $329/£369, you’re going to be disappointed. The entry-level 64GB WiFI model has a retail price $449/£499 which we’re sure we don’t need to point out is considerably more.
However, Black Friday has brought that price down a bit: in the UK, you can go to Very to get the 10th-gen iPad for £469 (opens in new tab), and in the US you can order it from Best Buy for $426 (opens in new tab).
We should say that there are still savings to be had on the still-pretty-good 9th-gen model as well – it’s currently £309 in the UK at Amazon (opens in new tab) and only $270 in the US at Best Buy (opens in new tab) – but the discount on the 10th-genner (which was only released last month) might at least give you some food for thought.
We know you’re here for iPad deals, but you might also like to know that we’ve been busy scouting out the best savings on MacBooks this cyber season, too. Head on over to our live blog for the top deals on both MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models.
One common complaint about iPads is that the entry-level models don’t come with much storage (as little as 64GB) and that you have to pay what seems like an awful lot more to get higher capacities. Fortunately, you can work around this to a certain extent with an external SSD – you can access content from this (samples, projects, etc) using the Files app.
All but one of the iPads in Apple’s current range has a USB-C port (the 9th-gen 10.2-inch model is the outlier), so hooking up a drive is as easy as plugging in a cable. There are plenty of SSD Cyber savings to be found on Amazon US and Amazon UK – we found this Crucial X6 2TB USB-C model on Amazon UK (with read speeds up to 800MB/s) for just £106.99, down from an RRP of £211 (opens in new tab).
Inevitably, the cheapest Cyber Weekend iPad deals tend to be on the WiFi models, but we know that some of you like the data-based freedom that comes with owning a table that has cellular capabilities, too.
If you’re one of those people and you like in the US, it’s worth stopping by the Walmart website, where you’ll find deals on both the 2020 and 2022 cellular-friendly iPad Airs.
The older model is the cheaper option – $569 (down from $679) gets you a 4th-gen cellular iPad Air with 64GB of storage (opens in new tab). There’s an A14 Bionic chip tucked away inside, so it’s certainly no slouch.
If you’re prepared to spend another $100, the 5th-gen M1-powered 2022 iPad Air with 64GB of storage is yours for $669 (down from $749) (opens in new tab).
Amazon UK has taken £50 off the 2022 12.9-inch M2-powered iPad Pro (AKA the biggest and best iPad you can buy) bringing the price down to the still considerable £1,999 (opens in new tab). There’s no getting away from the fact that this remains a lot of money to pay for a tablet, but if this is the one you’ve got your heart set on, any kind of discount is better than nothing.
A keyboard case is by no means an essential iPad purchase – many people get on perfectly fine without one – but if you’re thinking of your Apple tablet as a laptop replacement, or think you might like to use it for typing on from time to time, it’s a good investment.
Amazon currently has this Logictech Slim Folio iPad Keyboard case for just £49.99 (down from £89.99) (opens in new tab), and it’s compatible with the 7th, 8th and 9th-generation ‘standard’ models. There’s no touchpad, but grab a Bluetooth mouse and that won’t be a problem.
It might ‘only’ have an M1 processor, as opposed to the latest M2, but at $799.99, the 2021 12.9-inch iPad Pro is a great buy from Best Buy (opens in new tab). For that money you’re getting a still state-of-the-art tablet with a super-large display, and with the iOS music-making ecosystem now so mature, it might even be able to serve as a laptop replacement.
Here’s a great deal on the 9th-generation ‘standard’ iPad – down from $330 to $270 at Best Buy in the US (opens in new tab) (that’s a saving of $60, numbers fans). OK, it doesn’t have the all-screen design of the other models, but you are getting a 10.2-inch Retina display, A13 Bionic chip and 64GB of storage. Sounds good to us.
