A violent crash in Anderson Township shut down the highway for hours on Friday night.The crash happened on I-275 East near the 5-Mile Road and New Richmond exits around 9:30 p.m.The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed three people have died in the crash.The names of the victims have not been released at this time. A woman who said she is the aunt of one of the victims said her niece and nephew were having car problems and pulled over to call AAA.She said the tow truck driver was on the scene, as well as a friend who was picking up her niece and nephew, when the crash happened.The woman said her niece died and her nephew was taken to UC Hospital. The woman told WLWT that the family friend on scene to help was also killed.”The AAA family is deeply saddened by the deaths of three people in a multi-vehicle crash last night, including one of our own,” a statement from AAA spokesperson Kara Hitchens read.Hitchens said the employee was preparing to lead a AAA member’s vehicle on the back of a tow truck on I-275 when he was hit by a vehicle and killed.The highway reopened around 2:45 a.m. Saturday.WLWT is working to learn more information and will update this article as more information is known.
