Pickup truck driver charged in crash that left semi dangling off Clark Memorial Bridge

A man is facing charges for his role in the multi-vehicle crash that left a semi dangling over the Clark Memorial/Second Street Bridge.According to an arrest citation, Trevor Branham, 33, of Jeffersonville, was charged last week. He’s facing four counts of wanton endangerment, as well as operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.The crash happened on March 1. Police said a driver hit a stalled car then plowed into a semi. That semi then went through the pedestrian rail and over the edge, where the cab, with the driver still inside, was left hanging high above the Ohio River. They were rescued by the Louisville Fire Department after about 40 minutes.Branham’s arrest citation says he was the striking driver. Witnesses told police that he was speeding in a pickup truck, weaving in and out of traffic on the bridge, then hit the stopped car. It said that crash caused him to lose control and hit the semi.Police said he was injured in the crash and hospitalized.Branham was arraigned on Friday. He’s out of jail on a $20,000 bond (at 10%). His next hearing is scheduled for May 15.
