An elementary school bus crash in Clark County caused the death of at least one person Tuesday morning.

The crash happened just before 8:15 a.m. at Lawrenceville near the German Township fire station, according to reporting from Dayton Daily News and WHIO. The bus was from Northwestern Local Schools, which had begun its classes for the school year Tuesday. Clark County is west of Columbus.

The bus was carrying children when it collided with another vehicle and flipped on its top. Multiple injuries have been reported.

Several EMS units were dispatched to the scene, and medical helicopters were put on standby to provide assistance. Additional assistance has also been requested from neighboring departments.

Northwestern Local Schools alerted families about the crash on social media.

“If your child was involved in the bus accident this morning, you will be notified very soon,” read another post. “A parent reunification center will be at German Township Firehouse.”
