FIRST, THIS IS WVTM. 13 WEATHER. SO JUST A LITTLE UNDER 24 HOURS AGO, WE HAD THIS BIG LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS ROLLING ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA. AND TO CONFIRM TORNADOES, THESE ARE THE PRELIMINARY TRACKS FROM CLOSE TO WILDWOOD ON THE WEST SIDE OF I-65 AND HOMEWOOD, NEAR LAKE SHORE DRIVE UP ON THE SOUTH END OF EDGEWOOD AND CLOSE TO THE WEST SIDE OF SAMFORD UNIVERSITY’S CAMPUS. TORNADO TRACK NUMBER ONE, TORNADO TRACK NUMBER TWO, ALSO AN EF ONE. AND THIS ONE WAS PRETTY EASY TO SPOT EVEN FROM HIGHWAY 280. YOU COULD JUST SEE THAT TRACK RIGHT DOWN LAKESHORE DRIVE, SHADES CREST, AND THEN RIGHT UP ONTO THE CHEROKEE FOREST AREA IN MOUNTAIN BROOK AND THEN TOWARD CAHABA HEIGHTS. THERE WAS ALSO A LOT OF WIND DAMAGE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF ALFORD AVENUE DOWN AROUND REGENT AND HACKBERRY, CLOSE TO INTERSTATE 65. THERE WERE SOME DAMAGE TO POWER POLES RIGHT ON I-65, TOO. THAT DAMAGE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED JUST YET. BUT WE’RE GOING TO GET ANOTHER UPDATE FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ON THIS TOMORROW. YOU YESTERDAY INTO THIS MORNING, BIRMINGHAM M HAD ITS LARGEST 24 HOUR RAIN TOTAL IN OVER 100 DAYS. 2.16IN OF RAIN AT BIRMINGHAM. SHUTTLESWORTH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. CENTRE HAD TWO AND A QUARTER OHATCHEE JASPER TUSCALOOSA ALL OVER ONE INCH AND EAGLE POINT IN NORTH SHELBY COUNTY, RIGHT AT ONE INCH OF RAIN. SO THAT’LL CERTAINLY HELP WITH THE DROUGHT, DOE
National Weather Service confirms two EF1 tornadoes in Jefferson County
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has confirmed tornadoes in Jefferson County early Sunday morning. After a survey on Sunday, the NWS said that two short-lived tornado tracks were in those areas.
