Clark County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on Sunday afternoon after family received a text message that another family member had harmed others.

ORCHARDS, Wash — Five people are dead in an apparent murder-suicide on Sunday afternoon.

Clark County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Northeast 92nd Street near Northeast 115th Avenue just after 1:00 p.m. for a welfare check.

A family member called for help after getting a text message from another family member stating they had harmed others at the residence, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies tried to contact those at the residence and were unsuccessful.

Due to the report of a firearm involved and threats made about harming others, the Southwest Washington Regional SWAT team was called.

The sheriff’s office used a drone to see inside and observed several people who appeared to be deceased.

The SWAT team along with medics entered the residence and confirmed that five people including the shooter are dead. All are said to be adults.

Investigators say this appears to be a murder-suicide involving a firearm. There is not believed to be any further threat to the public.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
