Only one in three voters who backed leaving the European Union six years ago believe Brexit has been a success, polling for The Times suggests.
The YouGov survey, on the second anniversary of the Brexit trade deal, found that 41 per cent of Leave voters said Brexit had been worse for Britain than they imagined in 2016.
Nearly a quarter (23 per cent) said it had had a negative effect on Britain’s place in the world, 34 per cent said it was bad for the economy and 41 per cent said it had had a negative impact on immigration.
The poll also found more Leave voters than not now supported a closer relationship with Europe, including the possibility of rejoining the single market.
