Rhode Island authorities said five Massachusetts residents were among seven people who were arrested following a large fight at the Block Island Ferry dock.Narragansett police Chief Sean Corrigan said officers responded to the dock at 304 Great Island Road shortly after 8:10 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report of an active fight involving 20 to 30 people.The first officer who arrived at the scene immediately requested backup and additional officers also witnessed a large group of people fighting each other at the Block Island Ferry dock, according to Corrigan.The police chief said numerous individuals began interfering with officers as arrests were being made, and that those people were given warnings to stand back or they would be arrested for obstruction.Corrigan said seven people were arrested at the dock, and two of those people were transported to area hospitals to be treated for injuries they suffered during the fight.Manuel Pina, 42, of Brockton, was charged with felony assault, resisting arrest, obstructing an officer in the execution of duty and disorderly conduct.Gilda Antunes, 28, of Brockton, was charged with obstructing an officer in the execution of duty.Elsa Lopes, 31, of Brockton, was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, obstructing an officer in the execution of duty and disorderly conduct.Henry Lopes Jr., 32, of Providence, Rhode Island, was charged with disorderly conduct.Victor Manuel Gomes Depina, 39, of Brockton, was charged with obstructing an officer in execution of duty and disorderly conduct.Michael Gomes Lopes, 36, of Brockton, was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.A 16-year-old juvenile was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct.Corrigan said all seven suspects are expected to be arraigned Monday in 4th Division District Court in South Kingstown.
