The superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools apologized for a social media post from a school staff member.The post, which has since been deleted, said, “Every day is another opportunity to force kids in public schools to be gay.”Superintendent Dr. Ian Roberts says the employee was wrong to make that post, and the district’s personnel office will address it with them.”This shouldn’t need to be said but perhaps it must: our schools and teachers are focused on providing a quality education to our students, which does not include encouraging or forcing any student to identify with any specific sexual orientation,” Roberts said in a statement. The school district would not confirm which school the staff member works at and said there have been threats of violence against the employee and others. Parents of the school have been notified.
