NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Two people in Murfreesboro have been shot in the same area of the city with two suspects in custody, according to authorities.
The two different shootings — which are not related — happened around the Middle Tennessee State University campus. Reeves-Rogers Elementary School on Greenland Drive. MTSU officials said this didn’t cause any kind of lockdown on campus.
Hazelwood Drive shooting
Authorities said one of the people was a Papa John’s Pizza delivery driver, who was robbed and shot in the stomach with a shotgun at Crossing at Hazelwood Apartment Homes on Hazelwood Drive.
That person is being life-flighted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Murfreesboro Police Department officials said a man approached the delivery driver and demanded money.
The apartment where the pizza was supposed to be delivered is vacant. The incident is under investigation.
Brown Drive shooting
College Pointe Apartments on Brown Drive Police have detained several individuals.
In an unrelated incident, a man was shot and found behind a building at the College Pointe Apartments, where police have detained several individuals. The shooting is under investigation.
