The Blonds showcased their spring 2024 collection on Wednesday, September 13 at Spring Studios.
After 6 days of shows and presentations, the luxury apparel brand, co-founded by designer Phillipe Blond and creative director David Blond, closed out New York Fashion Week with a bang – and of course a lot of bling!
David Blond tells DailyMail.com: ‘This season we really tried to focus on turning up the volume and yelling out loud about the trans presence and how important it is for people to be able to express themselves whether it’s drag or gender non-conforming people we really want to make a statement about that, as well as have fun.’
The dynamic duo delivered a visual extravaganza that included a medley of eye-popping looks featuring one of their signature garments – the corset.

Once a symbol of restraint, the corset has been reimagined into a power-piece and become one of the season’s biggest trends.
‘It’s very much like armor in a modern day sense,’ said David.
‘We did a lot of corsets this season which is one of the things we are known for and we love to do.
‘It’s always the starting point for us for every collection; we really wanted to come back to that signature, we eventually want to do a solid collection of just corsets.
‘I love the fact that other designers are also experimenting with it, too, and doing it in different ways – it’s cool.’
Though super chic, many are hesitant to wear the hourglass-forming garment, as the wrong corset can cause discomfort, restrict breathing and be very uncomfortable.
‘If you get the right corset from a Corsetiere that understands the structure of the body, it can be comfortable,’ explains David.
‘It can be a support system as well, having one custom made is the biggest luxury.’

The spring collections weaves together music, mythology, and cosmic fantasy influences for some out-of-this-world fashions.
‘We had everything on the mood board – from the Clash of the Titans to Britney Spears,’ said David.
‘We created this idea of what our ultimate vision of what The Blonds Titan would look like and we mixed in different things like astrology, Medusa, a lot of Britney Spears, some Cher, and Bowie.
‘We didn’t put any rules or regulations, there’s so many different things in this collection that we pulled from wherever.’

Long hair added to the drama

The Leo horoscope sign was represented in the form of a black corset embellished with a gold lion head
‘The show is almost split in two, so you’ll actually see similar silhouettes walking down almost like a Gemini effect,’ said David who is a Pisces.
‘It’s almost like the mirror image and one is the evil, and one is the good, but who knows which?’
