The first day of school for thousands of students in Milwaukee will be a short one. MPS just announced all schools in the district will dismiss early Tuesday because of excessive heat in the forecast.All schools will start at their regular times with dismissals as follows: Schools that begin at 7:25 a.m. will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m. Schools that begin at 8:00 a.m. will be dismissed at 11:50 a.m. Schools that begin at 9:05 a.m. will be dismissed at 12:50 p.m. Schools that begin at 9:10 a.m. will be dismissed at 12:50 p.m. Schools that begin at 9:15 a.m. will be dismissed at 12:50 p.m. Schools that begin at 9:15 a.m. will be dismissed at 12:50 p.m.Breakfast and lunch will be served. Buses will pick up students at early dismissal. Families who pick up their child from school should follow the scheduled times above.All after-school activities, Community Learning Centers and Milwaukee Recreation Programs will be canceled for the afternoon and evening. Temperatures are expected to reach the low 90s.
