Digital studio ZERO10 is launching an AR fashion platform it’s dubbing ‘the-first-of-its-kind.’ This digital fashion hub will enable designers, brands, and users to not only wear, but also create virtual clothes for augmented reality.
Although the consumer part goes live today November 21, it’s the addition of the creator arm, launching on the platform early next year that makes the outfit unique.
ZERO10 AR Studio will allow creators to transform their designs into augmented reality through user-friendly and free to use design tools.
The platform worked closely with creators, gathering feedback that has informed the platform’s development. Going forward, the platform will also provide them the ability to sell their designs.
“Retrospectively, street culture had a massive influence on the fashion industry, now it is the creators who are at the forefront of digital fashion. In both cases, both were seen as disruptors at their time,” said ZERO10 CEO George Yashin.
The goal is to support the community of digital creators, giving them access to the technology that will allow them to become more mainstream and democratize digital fashion. It’s also an example of web2.5 in action — applying web3 technology within web2 perameters.
“We want our platform to become the designated space for collaboration, community and connection where anyone who is passionate about design, technology, content and digital fashion has a chance to bring their ideas into the world via augmented reality,” he added.
As it prepares for the rollout of the AR Studio, ZERO10 also plans to run an educational program to teach creators how to convert their 3D designs into high quality AR using its tools.
ZERO10’s R&D team is also developing core technologies including 3D body tracking, real-time multi-class segmentation, and cloth simulation that allow digital clothing to look the most realistic. Previous partners include Tommy Cash, Maisie Wilen, Barragán and Edward Crutchley.
It partnered with physical design practice Crosby Studios on a digital clothing collection and IRL pop-up store in SoHo over New York Fashion Week.
