New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge will try again Monday night to match Roger Maris’ American League single-season record of 61 home runs. Judge hit his 60th home run last Tuesday — he is the sixth player in history with a 60-homer season — and is 4 for 15 with three doubles, six walks, and six strikeouts in five games since.

It should be noted Judge is chasing a Triple Crown in addition to Maris’ record. Judge enters play Monday leading the AL in home runs (60) and RBI (128), and his league-leading .31434 batting average is narrowly ahead of Xander Bogaerts (.31380). Miguel Cabrera was baseball’s most recent Triple Crown winner in 2012. The Yankees wrapped up a six-game homestand Sunday and now open a three-game series against the AL East rival Blue Jays in Toronto. The Blue Jays will send righty Kevin Gausman (12-10, 3.32 ERA) to the mound. Judge is 8 for 22 with three homers against Gausman in his career, though he hasn’t taken him deep since 2017 and is 0 for 5 against him in 2022.
